MARS RED SKY unveil new psych video for “Join The Race”; European tour extended

Following their spacey second effort “Stranded In Arcadia”, French stoner rockers MARS RED SKY recently presented their brand new video for “Join The Race”. In their own inimitable trippy style, the trio takes you along a kaleidoscopic journey across North America’s dusty deserted landscapes and railways. Sticking to the band’s DIY ethos, the video was exclusively made from archive images and edited by long time friend and video director Colin Manierka.

BLACK MOTH unleash video for “Tumbleweave” via Terrorizer; new album “Condemned To Hope” out September 15th.

UK’s heavy rock revelation BLACK MOTH just teamed up with Terrorizer to premiere the live video for their kickass album opener “Tumbleweave”. New record “Condemned To Hope” is due out September 15th via New Heavy Sounds.

Get intoxicated with Black Moth’s “Tumbleweave” NOW

BLACK MOTH‘s long-awaited second full-length “Condemned To Hope” was produced by Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Cramps, Grinderman) and recorded by legendary Leeds engineer Andy Hawkins. “Condemned To Hope” is an album of fearsome drive and clandestine twists, skillfully sidestepping the cliché and heavy-handedness of delivery that often seems fit to destroy contemporary heavy rock’n’roll from the inside out. The artwork was entirely created by prog art legend Roger Dean (Yes, Uriah Heep, Budgie, Vertigo). The official video for first single “Room 13” is also viewable now AT THIS LOCATION.

Formed in Leeds in 2010, BLACK MOTH have quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting underground acts in the UK. Fronted by magnetic vocalist Harriet Bevan, this young and talented quintet was defined as “Electric Wizard meeting Band Of Skulls in a dungeon” by Terrorizer. The release in 2012 of their fiery debut record “The Killing Jar” – a grunge-goth odyssey sprinkled with a variety of influences going from Sabbath to the Melvins, The Stooges to L7 – and their mesmerizing on-stage presence, led them to share the stages with the likes of Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, Red Fang or Turbowolf.

“Black Moth’s sound is an instantly appealing one, pairing massive, Sabbath-esque riffs with a distinctly anthemic feel and the sultry vocals of frontwoman Harriet Bevan.” Terrorizer

“Combining huge dark riffing with stoner hooks, this is British metal at its finest.” Metalmouth

“Condemned To Hope is a surreal, weird, dark and twisted musical odyssey that Black Moth should rightly be proud of. Watch out folks – Black Moth are ready for Occult Rock Domination and on this form who is going to stand in their way.” The Sludgelord

“Condemned To Hope” is due out September 15th via New Heavy Sounds

In addition to the release of their new album, BLACK MOTH will embark on a full UK tour this fall with fellow labelmates LIMB. The band was also confirmed to play Desertfest Belgium in Antwerp (October 10th-12th) along with Electric Wizard, Fu Manchu, Yob, Brant Bjork and dozens more. See full list of gigs below, and feel free to get back in touch for guest list and interview spots.

Sleep, Orange Goblin and My Sleeping Karma confirmed for DESERTFEST LONDON 2015

European stoner/doom/psych festival DESERTFEST LONDON just unveiled the first batch of bands to be part of its fourth edition, taking place on April 24-26th, 2015 in Camden. Tickets are on sale now, so it’s time to make plans for next spring!

First bands confirmed are:

SLEEP
(headlining Koko’s on Sunday 26th)
ORANGE GOBLIN
MY SLEEPING KARMA

For the fourth year running, Camden’s finest venues will be hosting one of the most exciting stoner/doom/sludge/psyche gatherings in Europe, for a full weekend of fuzzed-out tunes, psychedelia and partying. After they announced their long-awaited return a few weeks ago, American stoner rock pioneers SLEEP will be treating the Desertfest crowd to their twenty minutes long smoked-out sonic odysseys, with an exclusive headlining set at London’s famous venue Koko’s on the Sunday. Camden’s ground is set to tremble once again this year, with UK metal heavyweights ORANGE GOBLIN delivering their fiery metal anthems, for a one-off 20th anniversary special performance. This first announcement couldn’t be complete without a cosmic touch (because it wouldn’t be DESERTFEST if we weren’t sonically high at least once), brought to you by German psych trio MY SLEEPING KARMA.

Keep an ear to the ground as more bands will be announced really soon!

BLACK MOTH unveil Roger Dean artwork for new album “Condemned To Hope”

Here it is: the artwork for BLACK MOTH’s second full-length “Condemned To Hope” is finally unveiled! This unique and stunning painting was created by renowned British artist Roger Dean. “Condemned To Hope” is due out September 15th via New Heavy Sounds.

More about the Black Moth artwork on Metal Hammer
Designer, architect and artist, Roger Dean’s iconic work for Yes, Uriah Heep, Budgie, countless Vertigo sleeves and much more, has almost come to define 70’s sleeve art. His work may be associated with rock and progressive rock in particular, but here Roger goes over to the dark side, moving away from the more fantastical vistas that feature in much of his paintings. For BLACK MOTH‘s “Condemned To Hope”, he evokes the apocalyptic landscapes of victorian painter John Martin to create something truly bleak and epic: “The cover painting is very dark and sombre in mood, but for me very interesting because of the intricacies and complexities of the landscape”.
They were also invited to play great festivals such as Desertfest London, Download Festival or Reading festival.

MARS RED SKY announce more European tour dates

Following an extensive spring tour and their superb performance at this year’s Hellfest a couple of weeks ago, French stoner rockers MARS RED SKY are now ready to embrace the second leg of their European tour, including a must-see appearance at pioneer festival Stoned From The Underground in Germany next week (along with Graveyard, Kylesa, Colour Haze and many more). The band was also confirmed to headline the opening show at heavy psych festival Reverence Valada in Portugal (Hawkwind, Electric Wizard, Red Fang, The Black Angels…) this September.

MARS RED SKY keep on touring in support of their second full-length record “Stranded In Arcadia”. Since its release on April 28th via Listenable Records, this beautiful heavy psychedelic product has kept receiving praises across the world, and seems to have taken the fast lane to many year’s end Top 10s.
Considered as ” a breathe of fresh air among stoner rock” by British webzine Ninehertz, it also was dissected in the most beautiful way by The Sleeping Shaman: “Charisma and consistency in quality song writing and execution (while maintaining a unique identity) is the hallmark of a great band. A great album, however, requires a culmination of these individual talents at a specific point in time. For MARS RED SKY, that moment is now; how long that moment will last is unclear, but hopefully they’ll remain stranded here for a while.
